Naigani Island

next 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

A lot of weird critters, from huge Bump Headed Wrasses that were 6' long, to White-Tip and Bronze Whaler Sharks, to small Pipefish and even sea snakes and turtles, were observed. A night dive was big fun with huge Nudibranchs, small Shrimp/Lobsters in bright hues, Scorpionfish and the attack of the giant crawling Crinnoids.

I have developed a new shark repellant for the Navy. It consists of an UW camera. On two consecutive dives on the same wall, I was first mobbed by white tips when I didn't have my camera, and then only saw one in the distance when I did.

The last day we even had dolphins flying out of the air in front of the dive boat while underway, and huge pods of humpback whales all around us!

After leaving Naigani we survived a 6-hour bus ride back into Nadi, pausing to check out a cultural tour and gift shop. We enjoyed a couple of days of site seeing in Nadi and flew back without too much trouble.

I really enjoyed turning my friends from the Marker Buoys onto a good time and want to thank them for making our own fun, and the entire trip, enjoyable. Thanks also to South Pacific Island Travel agent Donna Latin, who did pull it off for us after all.
